Monday, August 10th, 2009

space is the place! science fiction always played an important part in many music styles, from techno to p-funk, jazz, cosmic, electro etc. this styleguides edition is all about the high class synthesizer trash of early electronic space themes.

bonus music video is the famous doctor who theme composed by ron grainer and realised by delia derbyshire at the bbc radiophonic workshop in 1963, creating one of the first electronic music signature tunes for science fiction tv:

Electro ‘81-’83

Saturday, June 20th, 2009

electro music in it’s pure form is primarily about tr808 drum machine fetishism. several synthesizers helped start a new music genre (dx7, tb303, tr909, kpr77 etc), but tr808 seems to be the most prominent of them. if time allows there will be further styleguide compilations for early 80s electro r’n'b and electro rap.
